Even though the "info" from both the projector and the Panny disc player said the image was "HDR". However, last night, I put in "Cars 3" and thought the colors looked oddly washed out. The HDR mode on the projector is engaged, and then images are wonderful. Where the Roku is sending 4K/HDR at 60p, I think in 4:4:2?, the Panasonic's image comes up as at 24p, which I understand is how the discs are usually recorded. 2" and "Planet Earth 2" - but those have looked very, very good. I got an HDFury Linker but haven't integrated it yet, so the DI is apparently disabled, which really doesn't bother me (in fact, I'm thinking of going the other way, and disabling the DI on my "Normal" / low lamp mode for non-HDR viewing, just to see what it's like, because flickering for title or credit rolling text that is white on black is kind of annoying).Īnyway, I've only watched a few 4K/HDR discs from my Panny player - "Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. I've watched plenty of HDR material on my projector already, via a Roku Ultra - YouTube clips, Netflix shows like "Stranger Things 2", Amazon Prime Video like "The Tick", and as of last week, even successfully viewed a Vudu movie with HDR ("Wonder Woman") now that they've moved to supporting HDR-10 on some titles, yay! Until now, Vudu only supported DolbyVision for their HDR encoding, which I'd found not to work with the projector - if I forced the projector into HDR mode (the projector "knew" it shouldn't do so by default), the colors were wildly blown out and oversaturated.įor all these things, my projector would detect the HDR input and switch modes (with a click and 5 seconds of dark screen), which I have set to a BT.2020 color setting and high lamp mode. Not sure which side of it to look at for the issue, but enough people on this thread have both, so I'll start here. Hey guys, I have a problem viewing HDR discs on my RS520 from my Panny UB900.
